Next, we'll learn about soybeans.  Here's a view of a soybean field in June.

 

 

Here's a different perspective of the same field.

 

 

Here's a good view of the soybean pods on the stalk in October.   They are now mature and ready to be harvested.

 

 

The combine below is what harvests the soybeans.  Behind the cab is a receptacle for the soybeans after they are separated from the stalks and shelled.  This machine does a lot of work.  Think how long it would take to take each pod and shell it by hand!

 

 

Here's a head-on view of the combine.

 

 

The combine is in the field, combining (harvesting) the soybeans.  You can see how dusty it is!  The soybeans are pulled into the combine with the big roller with teeth.  The stalks go one way and the beans go another.  The straw is kicked out behind and the beans go into a container behind the driver.
